Calder Casino & Race Course will hold two tribute ceremonies for Calder-based Breeders’ Cup winners in its winner’s circle today, Saturday, Nov. 20.
The tributes will honor Musical Romance, winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) and Trinniberg, who won this year’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).
Musical Romance owns a career record of 12 wins from 41 starts with eight of those victories at Calder. She has more than $1.6 million in earnings and sold recently at Fasig-Tipton’s November sale for $1.6 million and is now headed to Japan will she will be a broodmare. She is owned by Pinnacle Racing Stables and trainer Bill Kaplan and she was ridden by Juan Leyva.
Trinniberg has five wins from 13 lifetime starts and boasts career earnings of more than $1.4 million. He won his debut at Calder in July of 2011 and finishing second in this year’s Carry Back Stakes. Calder is his home training base. He is owned by Sherry Parbhoo and is conditioned by Shivananda Parbhoo. Willie Martinez is his regular rider.
