Demonic roared through the stretch of the fourth race at Santa Anita on Sunday to break his maiden in his career debut.
The promising 3-year-old, a son of Bernardini, is trained by John Sadler for CRK Stable. Garrett Gomez was in the irons.
Content to race off the pace in fifth position early, Demonic ranged up outside runners around the far turn. Under urging from Gomez through the lane, Demonic collared Tiz the Truth and jockey Gary Stevens inside the final sixteenth to win by a head. He covered seven furlongs in 1:22.89 in his career debut.
Demonic, produced from the Meadowlake mare Sincerely, entered the race off back to back six furlong drills at Santa Anita in 1:12.
