Sprint star Saginaw added to his impressive resume with a 1 ¼-length victory in the $100,000 John Morrissey on Thursday at Saratoga.
It was the fifth consecutive victory and 21st in 40 lifetime starts for Saginaw, who also annexed the Morrissey in 2012.
“There is nothing left to say. He’s an incredible horse,” trainer David Jacobson told NYRA Press.
Sent off as the 5-2 second choice, Saginaw returned $7.40 to his backers. The win boosted his career bankroll to $974,690.
“He ran a hell of a race,” said jockey Junior Alvarado. “He’s a great horse.” Since being claimed by Jacobson for Drawing Away Stable in March of 2012, Saginaw has won 14 of 17 starts, including 10 stakes and purse money of $713,100.
“He just has the biggest heart. He’s out there to compete, to win, and he just loves to run,” said Jacobson.
