Dominguez, Jacobson and Drawing Away Stable Top Aqueduct Meet

saginaw

Ramon Dominguez, David Jacobson and Drawing Away Stable continued their strong 2012 seasons by respectively topping Aqueduct’s fall meet jockey, trainer and owner standings.

Dominguez, who celebrated his 36th birthday by capturing the Grade 1 Cigar Mile, Grade 1 Gazelle, and Grade 2 Remsen on Nov. 24 at Aqueduct, won 32 races during the fall meet. The two-time defending Eclipse Award winner for Outstanding Jockey finished with an eight-race advantage over second-place rider Jose Ortiz despite missing the final two weeks of the meet with a bruised foot. Cornelio Velasquez was third with 22 wins.

Jacobson held off Rudy Rodriguez 19-18 to earn his fifth career training title. The 58-year-old also took this year’s inner track title and shared the Belmont fall crown with Chad Brown. Todd Pletcher took third with 14 wins during the Aqueduct fall meet.

Drawing Away Stable, one of Jacobson’s clients, was the leading owner with 11 victories. Michael Dubb (8 wins) was second and Repole Stable (7) was third.

Racing moves to the inner track on Wednesday.
