Hansen Injured, out of Travers Stakes and Likely to be Retired

Last year’s champion juvenile Hansen has been ruled out of consideration for this Saturday’s Grade 1, $1 million Travers at Saratoga Race Course, according to NYRA Press.

“He had some inflammation in his left front leg this morning and is not running,” said trainer Mike Maker.

Owned by Dr. Kendall Hansen and Skychai Racing, the grey son of Tapit was undefeated as a 2-year-old including a win in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. This year he has added two Grade 3 victories to his resume from six starts. According to a report in Daily Racing Form, Dr. Hansen indicated the popular colt will likely be retired.
