Topping the Barretts May Sale at $300,000 Monday night was hip No. 9, a son of Master Command consigned by Ocala, Florida’s Wavertree Stables.
Brett Lindenbaum, agent, signed the ticket for the chestnut colt who is out of the stakes-placed Salt Lake mare Grinch. The Kentucky-bred juvenile worked an eighth in :10 at the under tack preview. The agent indicated Bob Baffert will train the colt for an undisclosed client.
All told, 69 head sold at the one-day sale held in Pomona, Calif., grossing $2,986,500. The sale average was $43,283 and the median price was $23,000. Last year’s May sale saw 72 youngsters sell for $2,657,000 and average $36,903.
