Florida-bred Mucho Macho Man breezed Saturday morning at Churchill Downs in preparation for a start in the Alysheba Stakes (G2) there on May 4.
According to Kostas Hatzikoutelis, vice president of Dream Team Racing, Mucho Macho Man traveled four furlongs in :46 3/5 in the breeze and galloped out five furlongs in :59 and change.
“He did it all in hand,” said Hatzikoutelis. “He loves Churchill Downs. He floated over the track and came back great.”
Racing for Reeves Thoroughbred Racing and Dream Team Racing Stable, Mucho Macho Man became a millionaire in his most recent start, taking down top prize in the Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2). That win followed a sparkling score in the Sunshine Millions Classic to begin his 4-year-old season.
Mucho Macho Man has already demonstrated an affinity for the Churchill strip. He finished a game third behind Animal Kingdom in last year’s Kentucky Derby (G1) for trainer Kathy Ritvo.
