Revolutionary Best in Louisiana Derby

Revolutionary closed from last to take down top prize in the $1 million Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds on Saturday.

WinStar’s son of War Pass made a sweeping, five-wide move around the far turn under Javier Castellano and dueled through the stretch with Mylute and Shaun Bridgmohan. At one point, it appeared Mylute had gained a slight advantage, but Revolutionary proved game along the inside and prevailed by a neck on the line. He covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:50.28. Departing finished third.

Revolutionary, who captured the Withers Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct in his previous start, is conditioned by Todd Pletcher. The colt was a $235,000 OBS March sale graduate. With the victory, Revolutionary moved into second place in the Road to the Kentucky points standings with 110 points, trailing only Florida Derby (G1) winner Orb who leads the way with 150 points.
