Eclipse Champion Royal Delta got a feel for the synthetic surface at Meydan in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday as she prepares to take on the boys in Saturday’s $10 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1).
The 4-year-old daughter of Empire Maker, owned by Benjamin Leon’s Besilu Stables, looked sensational in capturing last year’s Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs for trainer Bill Mott. She made her seasonal bow in the Sabin Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 25, finishing second to impressive winner Awesome Maria.
Among Royal Delta’s expected competition in the World Cup are Game on Dude, the only other entrant based in the U.S., So You Think (NZ), Master of Hounds, Mendip, and Eishin Flash (JPN) and Smart Falcon (JPN) from Japan.
