Bob Baffert-trained runners Secret Circle and Bodemiester arrived at Oaklawn Park on Tuesday to settle in before their engagement in Saturday’s Arkansas Derby (G1).
“We’re in good shape, “ Baffert assistant Jimmy Barnes told Oaklawn Publicity. “Everyone will go out the track tomorrow morning.”
Secret Circle is in search of his third consecutive stakes score in Hot Springs as he has already captured the Southwest Stakes (G3) and the Rebel Stakes (G2) at Oaklawn this season.
Joining the Arkansas Derby contenders was stablemate Plum Pretty, winner of last year’s Kentucky Oaks (G1), who will contest Friday’s Apple Blossom Handicap (G1). Northern Spur contender Drill and two runners for Wednesday’s Fantasy Stakes (G2)—Mamma Kimbo and Jamima’s Pearl – rounded out Baffert’s team. Jockeys Mike Smith and Joe Talamo were en route from California Tuesday as well to fulfill assignments on the respective fillies.
