Wood Back on Alpha’s Radar

It appears the Wood Memorial (G1) at Aqueduct is definitely next up for Alpha, according to trainer Kiaran McLaughlin on Sunday.
McLaughlin has announced a few different races for his charge over the last couple of weeks, but on Sunday he seemed confident that Alpha, a son of Bernardini, is heading back to New York after exiting a breeze at Palm Meadows on Saturday in great shape.
“There’s a flight to New York on April 4, but that’s a little close to the [April 7] race,” the trainer told NYRA Press. “There might be another one going up on [March 30]. We’ll figure it out in the next day or two.
“He’s in great shape,” added McLaughlin of Alpha, who covered five furlongs in 1:00.99, second-fastest of 19 at the distance. “He’ll definitely be there.”
